Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Explorer Manager application ("the software") and this website. By downloading, installing or using the software you accept them.

1. Permitted use

The software is free for personal, non-commercial use. You may install it on your own devices and modify it for yourself. Selling, renting, leasing or any other commercial distribution of the software or works derived from it is not permitted. The full terms are set out under Rights and licence below.

2. Your responsibility

Explorer Manager moves files on your computer according to rules that you define. You are responsible for the rules you create and the folders you select. Test a new rule with unimportant files first and keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.

3. No warranty

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any damages — including lost, moved or overwritten data, or loss of profits — arising from the use of, or inability to use, the software.

4. Data

Explorer Manager runs entirely on your machine. It contains no telemetry, no analytics and no account system, and it sends no file names, file contents or usage data anywhere. Your rules and watched folders are stored locally in:

%APPDATA%\ExplorerManager\settings.json

This website is static and sets no cookies. Downloads are hosted by GitHub, whose own terms and privacy policy apply when you fetch a file from them.

5. Third-party services

Links to GitHub and other external sites are provided for convenience. The author has no control over their content and accepts no responsibility for it.

6. Changes

These terms may be updated as the software evolves. The version published on this page is the one that applies. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

7. Rights and licence

Explorer Manager, its source code, its name and its logo are the property of Sebastian / AquaXS. The software is distributed under a proprietary license, summarised below and shipped in full as LICENSE.md with the source code.

8. Permissions

Use and modify the software for personal use only.
Share the source code, provided this license and all author attributions remain intact.

9. Restrictions

Commercial use: selling, renting or leasing the software is not allowed.
Resale: any form of commercial distribution or resale of the software or its derivatives is strictly prohibited.
Attribution: the "BY SEBASTIAN/AQUAXS" credits in the source code and in the GUI must not be removed or altered.

10. Warranty under the licence

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. In no event shall the author be liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from the software or its use.

11. Brand

The Explorer Manager name and logo may be used to refer to the project — in a review, a tutorial or a link. They may not be used for your own product, as your own branding, or in a way that suggests endorsement by the author.

12. Third-party components

Explorer Manager is built on open-source software, each covered by its own license:

watchdog — filesystem events, Apache License 2.0
CustomTkinter — user interface, see the project repository for its license
Python — runtime, PSF License

13. Commercial licensing

Want to use Explorer Manager inside a company or bundle it with something you sell? That needs written permission — get in touch on GitHub.
